GO FOR GOLD AT THE BANK OF ENGLAND MUSEUM

The Museum on Threadneedle Street will be holding special events for children throughout the summer reports LondonTown.com

(TRAVPR.COM) UK - July 17th, 2013 - One of London's smaller; specialist museums will be laying on special events this summer holiday for children in London. The Bank of England Museum allows visitors to study the history of banking and finance in the bank's famous City headquarters on Threadneedle Street. The Bank of England is in central London, handily placed for tourists exploring ancient attractions like St Paul's and Guildhall.

Those planning to visit London should first go to LondonTown.com, London's most reliable website for cheap hotels in London. From 22 July to the end of August, the Bank of England Museum will invite children todiscover some of its hidden treasures by answering clues and following the trail.

Some of the fascinating objects that can be discovered on this journey include a 300-year-old treasure chest, gold coins, a £1,000,000 banknote and several gold bars, one of which can even be handled. Once children have completed the trail they can make their own treasure-chest-shaped money box and colour it as in the kid's area - all materials are provided. There's also a chocolate coin for every child and prizes to be won. Activity sheets for children of all ages are available with a small prize for all those who take part and admission and all activities are free of charge.

The Museum offers much more that is family friendly. There are banknote jigsaws, an inflation roller-ball game, interactive displays that explain the Bank's past and present roles and an opportunity to try and crack a safe. You can also take control of a virtual hot air balloon and chart it on a stable course to simulate the role of the Bank in keeping inflation steady. And visitors can even try to lift a genuine gold bar with a value of more than £300,000 - although, at 13kg, its weight might take many people by surprise.
