ELTON JOHN PULLS OUT OF HYDE PARK SHOW PROMPTING FREE CONCERT

Ray Davies and Elvis Costello play Free Friday concert as part of British Summer Time

(TRAVPR.COM) UK - July 11th, 2013 - Sir Elton John cancels all upcoming shows including his much anticipated show at Barclaycard presents British Summer Time, Hyde Park, this coming Friday, 12th July 2013, due to appendicitis. But the organisers, AEG Live and The Royal Parks, have confirmed that the show will now be a free concert and existing ticket holders will receive a full refund.

Ticket holders who have already paid to see Elton John can enjoy music by the former Kinks frontman Ray Davies, Elvis Costello and other acts who were on the original billing at Hyde Park for free and there's still time to find somewhere to stay for the weekend including a wide choice of cheap London hotels within walking distance of the outdoor event in London.

With the warm weather in the capital set to continue this weekend and temperatures predicted to remain high, between 19 and 28 degrees centigrade, London's outdoor music festivals are expected to attract large crowds.

Following Free Friday, British Summer Time continues with The Rolling Stones making their second Hyde Park appearance on Saturday 13th July, supported by Jake Bugg, Tom Odell, The Horrors and others. The following night, on Sunday 14th July, Lionel Richie and Jennifer Lopez take to the Great Oak stage in Hyde Park for the final day of the 10-day festival.

Over in east London, Wireless comes to the brand new Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park this weekend, from Friday 12th to Sunday 14th July 2013, with Justin Timberlake and Jay Z headlining, supported by other top acts including Snoop Dogg, Emeli Sandé, Rita Ora and A Tribe Called Quest.

Somerset House Summer Series continues this weekend with American rockers Band of Horses performing on Friday 12th July, Londoner Lianne La Havas takes to the stage on Saturday 13th July, followed by Sheffield born singer-songwriter Richard Hawley on Sunday 14th July. The sold out festival runs for another week with appearances from Swedish sister duo First Aid Kit, Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros, and Goldfrapp, and continues until Sunday 21st July 2013 when Basement Jaxx bring the series to a close.

At the Kew the Music picnic concerts audiences can enjoy Jools Holland and his Rhythm and Blue Orchestra on Friday 12th July, Leona Lewis who is joined by Soul II Soul on Saturday 13th July, and Bellowhead who end this year's festival on Sunday 14th July 2013.
